Trek Overview
The Parvati Valley in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh is home to Sar Pass. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful treks in India, it promises a medley of meadows, forests, streams, and snow-covered trails.
Sar Pass is like a snowy dream with new adventures after every base camp. The base camp is Kasol, also known as the Mini Israel of India.
'Sar' in the local language means 'lake' — you pass a small, usually frozen lake while trekking, hence the name Sar Pass.
About Sar Pass Trek
The trail weaves through dense pine and rhododendron forests, lush meadows, and hamlets, passing campsites at Grahan Village, Min Thatch, Nagaru and Biskeri Thatch.
The last two hours of the trek include a 90-degree incline where the descent is actually done by sliding down through the snow rather than trekking.
Best Time & Difficulty
Sar Pass trekking is best done from May to October (summer, monsoon and autumn), when the weather isn't too extreme and snow slides are enjoyable.
Sar Pass is a moderate-level trek, doable even without prior trekking experience, though there is an almost-vertical incline at the top and a steep decline.

From Chandigarh: 271 km by road (~8 hours), or fly to Kullu and drive ~1 hour to Kasol.
